Lune/Loon I guess!! I tried painting gouache on some leftover matting board and the process made me kind of frustrated and angry for a while, haha. I don't have a lot of patience when I'm experimenting with media I'm not used to using. (plus why would I use a medium the "correct" way, that'd be too easy right)
Ah man, gouache is such a pain to use, it seems simple but it is a trickster, that one! You seemed to have wrangled it into good use though. Love the texture, and loons are so awesome (their calls are pretty yet haunting!), reminds me of being up north in Canada, at a cottage on the lake :] I like the use of repetition of shapes too, distinctly loon-esque!
Wow ! Love pattern and texture ! If you make something like that when you experiment something, you should do it more often ! Like ~pineapplepidecd92, I can't wait to see an animated version of your character ! The blu&green sky is so nice, magical and mysterious. There is so little elements you could interpret in different ways, this is what I like : Hat/cloud, hand/scarf, arm/wing..... I don't like clouds but it's the only stuff !
i thought that it was about the moon (luna)!I didn't guess right Anyway,it is beautiful and mysterious in a way.The blue color gives it a cold, mysterious and a bit relaxing atmosphere, and the green and dark tones in the sky make it feel spooky. The composition is good.I really like it.:fav+:
Very well done, you captured brilliantly the mysterious and somewhat spooky feeling that the moon gives off. I love the pattern of her dress and how you see that back in the feathers of the bird. Very pretty
Damn, that looks pretty awesome. I really love the way you designed the character, with it´s abstract, stylized look ( Is it me, or does it also contain a litte bit comic/anime style in it ? That design would actually look pretty cool for an animated movie/show. In fact, I even can imagine to see the character in movement. ) Also the colours fits perfectly for this picture. Giving it a mysterious but still comfortable look. I´m really sorry that my comment is that long, but thats just what i think of your picture. Again, great work. Looking forward to see more.
Haha, don't apologize, I really like when people put a lot of thought into their comments! Yeah, I kind of worked in a super-simplified version of my usual style for this one. Might be a great style to animate in actually, I might try something of this nature in my animation class this fall!
That sounds pretty cool. Although, i can imagine that animating a character in this kind of abstract style can be a little tricky but not entirely impossible. As for me, i imagine the character to be animated in 2D, while the texture of the costume could be made with the help of the computer (a little bit like the magic carpet in Aladdin).
Anyway,I wish you all the very best for your further work.
Yeah, i´m also not really familiar with digital animation. I´ve tried it once but......let us just draw a veil of silence over it.
As much as i admire people who have the talend and the patience to do work with there computers, I still prefer to work with pencil and paper or with something i can touch (stopmotion or cutout animation.) From what i get, working with computers is a little bit easier (I´m not an expert, so maybe i´m totally wrong with that statement), but there is something special for me whenever i work with traditional stuff ( I hope i don´t sound too old fashioned .
Anyway, good luck with your work and i´m looking forward to see more.
